The new musical will be the first in a line of musicals that Apa has written for MTV.
The show is set to debut at the 2018 Grammys on June 9.
The musical is set in the era of the Civil War, where the white southerners have conquered the Confederacy and the Black Confederates and are fighting to regain their own country.
The show is directed by Jeff Rosenstock and written by Apa and co-writer/composer John Williams.
The first two episodes will air on MTV on June 7.
Apa Apa is a collaboration between Apa’s sister, Apa Prakas, and music producer Justin Bartha.
They were joined by music artist/producer and producer Adam Yauch and director/composition/music producer David Lee.
In a statement, Apapa Apapas CEO said, “We have spent years working to get to this point, and we are extremely grateful to all of our collaborators and fans for their passion and enthusiasm.
We are so thrilled to finally be able to share our vision with the world.
We have already shared a number of songs with our fans and are already working on new songs for the show.”
The musical centers on ApaPrairies main character, Darryl.
His father, a veteran of the U.S. Civil War who served as a colonel, died in a gun battle in which the Confederacy lost its capital at Gettysburg.
Darryl, who is black, is trying to find a way to reconcile his heritage and his love of the music that he was taught growing up.
The first episode will air during the Grammys.
